Mold can grow fast and affect the health of you and your family. One area of the home especially prone to mold growth is the bathroom, a place that commonly lacks good air circulation. How can you avoid it?

First of all, do not leave wet items laying around for long periods of time. Air dry clothes before throwing them in your hamper soaking wet. Wash your towels, bathmats, and shower curtains regularly.

It’s also important to wipe up spills and fix leaking pipes as soon as possible. Make sure you have a well-working exhaust fan. It will help draw out all that humid air that is made from hot showers and also condensation that may accumulate around the toilet. The moisture is sucked out of the room and released outside.

Shower grout is notorious for breeding mold. To avoid mold in the first place, squeegee the walls after your shower or bath. This reduces a lot of moisture. Clean the grout on a regular basis with a natural agent such as vinegar or baking soda, or use a mold/mildew cleaning chemical.
