Many people have chosen to get laminate flooring installed in their homes when they are building new or renovating. What is the appeal?
Laminate is cost-effective. It’s cheaper than hardwood flooring. Also, laminate is quite easy to install with basic skills.
There are many different colors and styles of laminate flooring, so it is easy to find flooring that will match your home. Unlike hardwood floors, laminate floors do not need to be refinished. They are easy to clean and maintain. Just vacuum regularly and use a slightly damp microfiber mop to clean them. Dampen the mop with either water or a laminate-safe cleaner.
Laminate flooring is durable. It’s more scratch resistant than hardwood flooring. This is great if you have pets, kids, or wear shoes occasionally in the house.
At the same time, because laminate cannot be resurfaced, you want to avoid causing damage. If you do, the flooring needs to be replaced. Do not drag heavy items across the floor, and use area rugs in highly trafficked areas where shoes may be used. Do not use abrasive cleaning tools or chemicals. Also, clean up spills before the liquid seeps through the cracks.
